I really love that Pinfinity allowed me to do my own original character pins, rather than producing a pop culture pin.
Also AR animated pins are just so damn cool! I’m so happy with how they came out.

Tell us about your brand and the types of artwork you create.

I mainly work with acrylic paint and ink on wood or mdf shapes that I cut out myself using a scroll saw. Most of my pieces are character driven, with characters spanning a spectrum of cute, sexy, heroic, strange, ugly, bizarre and beyond.

Your artwork frequently features mash-ups of various characters and franchises. How did this start? Do you recall the first piece you created?

It was the summer of 2011, Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern was flopping at the box office, the Game of Thrones had just begun, Lady Gaga was on ‘the edge of glory’ and I was doing lots of monochrome drawings featuring seemingly unconnected pop culture references. Gradually these drawings transitioned from strange, random montages featuring a lobotomised He Man dressed as Fred Flintstone (for example) to more focused mash ups like DeVito’s Penguin and Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze, together to conjure up memories of 1988 classic ‘Twins’. From then on finding pop culture puns and connections became one of my favourite past times.

Do you have a favorite fandom or specific item you collect?

I’ve always been a collector of all sorts: action figures, bobble heads, happy meal toys, trading cards, stickers, free gifts in cereal boxes, anything collectible really. Most recently my main 3 collections are anything to do with Marvel’s Vision (toys and comics mainly) I just like Vision a little too much.

Rick and Morty merch, because you know, Rick and Morty is just the best! And I’m always a sucker for 2D cartoon characters as toys so I have acquired a lot of Batman The Animated Series/The New Batman Adventures collectibles figures over the past couple of years or so.

Since most of us are spending lots of time inside these days, do you have recommendations for favorite spooky films or series we should check out?

Dark on Netflix is great! Although I feel like it’s been labelled underrated so much, that maybe underrated no longer applies to it.
I also love anthology shows like Twilight Zone, Inside no.9, Black Mirror etc.
Pretty much any movie with Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee or Vincent Price. I could watch their movies over and over anytime.

What was it about Pinfinity pins that got you excited to collaborate?

I really love that Pinfinity allowed me to do my own original characters on their pins, rather than producing a pop culture pin. I adore pop culture stuff of course, but it’s great to be given the freedom to show my own creations. Also AR animated pins are just so damn cool! I’m so happy with how they came out.
